Gourmet Raw Brownies and Flackers

Gourmet Raw (www.gourmetraw.com) is a new, convenient, healthy food range that is packed with natural energy due to launch in the UK in November 2009.

The handmade range includes two variants of Gourmet Raw Brownies (Celestial Cacao and Cocobanana) and three varieties of Flackers™* (Salsa, Jive and Sunshine). Flackers make a delicious, raw alternative to bread and are tasty served with guacamole, salsa or on their own as a quick and convenient raw snack. Flackers are delicious alternatives to crackers and fabulous served with freshly made guacamole or tomato salsa. They also make a raw alternative to bread to make sandwiches to eat on the go filled with houmous and salad. The Flackers retail at £3.59 each and the brownies retail at £2.95.

Three new gluten-free snack bars are also in production and will be launched shortly: Oracle (goji berries, hemp seeds and other delicious seeds), Supadoopa Slice (nut-free and sweetened with lucuma), and Mutiny (coconut and chocolate).

Made to order, none of the products are heated above 40.5°C, making them suitable for people living a raw food lifestyle. They are the ideal size to carry in your handbag or coat pocket and perfect for anyone looking for an organic and healthy snack – regardless of whether you’re 100% raw or just in need of some healthy and delicious food to eat on the go.

Gourmet Raw is an original and innovative range of raw food products, produced in the UK by passionate raw foodies Andrew Davis and Angela Davis (founders of The Raw Food School). The range was created in response to growing interest in the raw food lifestyle and demand for products that haven’t been heated above 40.5°C (ensuring that the enzymes and minerals are not destroyed). People choosing to follow a raw food lifestyle have to become incredibly good at organising and planning, as the range of suitable products in the retail and foodservice markets has, until now, been incredibly limited.

Andrew Davis has been eating raw for more than five years and craved the delicious, handmade raw food he enjoyed at home while out and about on business meetings and on days out with the family.

We wanted to be able to walk into a shop or a cafe and buy great-tasting raw foods that are packed with natural life force rather than heated, convenient, processed foods. We also wanted to know that the ingredients were of the best quality, ethically sourced and naturally organic. We thought that if we wanted all of this, then other people probably did too. The seed was planted, we threw in our day jobs and Gourmet Raw was born”.

Consumer taste tests have been conducted in two independent stores in Glastonbury (home to Gourmet Raw) and at The Raw Food School. The range has been welcomed with open arms, not only by the raw food community, but also by the growing number of people who appreciate healthy, innovative and high-quality organic produce.
